Office #1, the first space for contemporary art in Caracas that is led and self-directed by Venezuelan artists, was founded in 2005 by Suwon Lee and Luís Romero.  The design of offices and a second exhibition space arise from the need to create a clean and flexible space for promotion, gatherings, development, exhibition and discussion of the diverse practices of contemporary art and current creation, with special emphasis on emerging methods.  The project is located in the Los Galpones Art Center, a meeting place for generating “Community” in Caracas through contemporary art including visual, musical, gastronomic, scenic, literary and cinematic expression.
